Indian PM Modi to lead #BeTheRevival message at India Global Week

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a global audience for the first time since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic when he makes an inaugural address to India Global Week 2020 on July 9, when he is expected to lay out his vision around the event’s theme of #BeTheRevival: India & A Better New World.

Manoj Ladwa, Chairman and CEO of the India Inc. Group, the UK-headquartered media house behind the annual event, said: “We are delighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chosen India Global Week to make this landmark address to our international audience of business leaders and those interested in India’s globalisation. It is a much-anticipated speech that will be keenly watched by the global investor and wider community.

“India Global Week is about sharing ideas and ambitions; it is about promoting understanding and partnerships. This is an opportune moment for some of the brightest minds in the world to come together to deliberate and chart a way forward for India and the rest of the world.”

High-profile speakers

The three-day summit, being held on a virtual platform in the current lockdown scenario, will also attract senior Cabinet ministers, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, railways and commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal, civil aviation and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Skill Development Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey, among some of the prominent speakers from India.

On the UK side, HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, will be making a special address at the event and the British government is lining up a high-profile set of speakers, including UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, Home Secretary Priti Patel, Health Secretary Matt Hancock and International Trade Secretary Liz Truss.

For Gaitri Kumar, the new Indian High Commissioner to the UK, this will mark one of her first major events since taking charge in London this month.

Country-specific focus

Besides this clear underlining of the importance the UK places on its relations with India, there are a series of country-specific sessions scheduled to cover India’s ties with countries such as the US, Australia, Singapore and Japan.

The wide range of around 75 sessions during the summit will cover areas as diverse as geopolitics and business to arts and culture, with the Diaspora Dividend and the contribution of Global Indians among one of the major strands. The line-up will also include in-conversation segments, including between Global Indian Hollywood actor Kunal Nayyar and Isha Foundation Founder Sadhguru, and a special “Atmanirbhar Bharat” performance by Classical Indian danseuse Madhu Nataraj as well as a 100 birth anniversary tribute concert in memory of world-renowned Indian sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar by three of his most eminent students.

With over 250 senior business and strategic expert speakers lined up, India Global Week 2020 is set to attract a worldwide audience of 5,000+ over the course of the week.
