Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Laxxmi Bomb’ set for pre-Diwali release

Akshay Kumar’s Global Indian fans have a reason to rejoice as the actor’s upcoming horror-drama ‘Laxxmi Bomb’ will be released in theatres in Australia, New Zealand and the UAE on November 9.

In India and other regions, the movie is set for a direct-to-digital release on the same day on Disney+Hotstar, according to film critic and movie trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

“BIGGG NEWS… #LaxmmiBomb – which premieres 9 Nov 2020 on #DisneyPlusHotstar – will also release across *cinemas* in #Australia, #NewZealand and #UAE simultaneously, on 9 Nov 2020. #Diwali #Diwali2020,” said Adarsh on Twitter.

In another tweet, he added: “NOTE… #LaxmmiBomb premieres in #India on #DisneyPlusHotstarVIP and on #Hotstar in #USA, #UK and #Canada on 9 Nov 2020. #Diwali #Diwali2020.”

The news was also shared on Twitter by Fox Star Hindi, along with a new poster of the film featuring Akshay in his two different avatars – a man in the foreground and a transgender person in the background.

“This Diwali, ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ to release day and date on 9th November in Australia, New Zealand and UAE. Directed by Raghava Lawrence, the movie stars Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the lead. #YehDiwaliLaxmmiBombWaali #LaxmmiBomb #FoxStarStudios,” it read.

Earlier, Akshay Kumar had dropped a spooky glimpse from ‘Laxxmi Bomb’ and announced the release date of the film on social media.

The ‘Namastey London’ star wrote: “Iss Diwali aapke gharon mein ‘laxmmi’ ke saath ek dhamakedar ‘bomb’ bhi aayega. Aa rahi hai ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ November 9 ko, only on Disney+Hotstar. Get ready for a mad ride kyunki #YehDiwaliLaxmmiBombWaali. [This Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi will be accompanied by a the film release].”
While launching the first two looks of the film during a live interaction on ‘Hotstar Disney Plus’, the ‘Special 26’ actor called the genre of the movie his “favourite” and a “passion project” and said he was looking forward to the release.

The Bollywood version is a remake of the Tamil movie ‘Muni 2: Kanchana’ and Kumar’s co-star in the film will be actress Kiara Advani. Kumar plays the role of a transgender character in the film, which was initially expected to hit cinemas in May this year but is among several Indian cinematic releases that have been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
