Covid-hit Big B pens a poem of gratitude for his fans

Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan dedicated a poem as he expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of good wishes from his fans who expressed their concern after four members of the Bachchan family tested positive for Covid-19.

The 77-year-old actor penned a poem on Twitter as a gesture of gratitude to all the well-wishers who prayed and wished for their speedy recovery and good health.

Thanking his fans for the overwhelming support, he wrote: “Prarthana Sadbhawnaon ki musaladhar barish ne, sneh roopi bandhan ka bandh todh diya hai. “Beh gaya tar kar diya mujhe is apaar pyaar ne, mere ekanki pan ko jo tumne, prajwalit kar dia hai. Vyaktigat aabhar main vyakt kar na paaunga, bas sheesh jhuka ke natmastak hoon main.” That translates to: “The immense rain of prayers and well wishes have broken the bond of affection/ this immense love has swept me away, to my solitude, which you have ignited. I will not be able to express my personal gratitude, I just bow down to it all.”

Besides Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and granddaughter Aaradhya have tested positive for Covid-19. While father-son Amitabh and Abhishek are in hospital in Mumbai, Aishwarya and Aaradhya are self-isolating at home.

The development comes as Abhishek’s digital debut series with Amazon Prime’s ‘Beathe Into the Shadows’ had its world premiere.

“That time is gone when the hero has to be morally on a higher ground to the audience. In today’s day and age, especially the youth, they would much rather see a flawed character achieve something by admitting their flaws and trying to work with it,” Abhishek said in a recent interview for the much-hyped series.

“There are lesser and lesser fantastical characters. Our most popular heroes today are all great characters, which have one or two flaws, which just makes them real. That just makes the character more tactile and approachable,” he said.
