Model Elle Macpherson swears by laughter and sunshine to stay healthy

The well-known supermodel who is nicknamed “The Body”, Elle Macpherson, says she counts laughter and sunshine among her top tips for maintaining a healthy body and mind as she reveals that she founded her lifestyle brand as a birthday present to herself.

The 56-year-old model turned entrepreneur believes that the secret to a better life is based on four important principles.

"Clean water (filtered from heavy metals, fluoride and toxins) - I drink 3 litres a day," she told model Georgia Fowler during an interview for her blog.

"Sunshine - Vitamin D is so important for a healthy immune system. I enjoy 20 minutes each day, either early morning or late afternoon."

Elle continued: "Movement - Whatever floats your boat. I love swimming, hiking, surfing and yoga. Laughter - it increases our natural immune response by releasing serotonin, the happy hormone. As much and often as possible."

In reference to starting her lifestyle brand, WelleCo, she said that the launch of the company's Super Elixir green powder - which is an all-in-one multivitamin and mineral supplement - was a 50th birthday present to herself.

"I learned the body will heal itself, if given the right environment. I immediately wanted to share this discovery with other people and help people the way I had been helped so WelleCo was born in 2014 - it was my 50th birthday present to myself," Elle explained.

"WelleCo is the combination of wanting to create a business and wanting to enable inner and outer beauty for everyone," the mother-of-two added.

The supermodel's tips coincide with many Bollywood celebrities, including Shilpa Shetty who had called on her fans to make investments in self during the Covid-19 lockdown and Madhuri Dixit, who hit social media with advice on embracing unique life experiences. Deepika Padukone also reached out to her fans with a #YouAreNotAlone message as part of this holistic approach to a healthy lifestyle.
