Bosch India bets big on smart tech

German engineering and electronics giant Bosch is betting big on smart technology beyond its traditional mobility business in India. “Our business is in a process of profound transformation from a hardware focus to models that focus more on services and data,” Soumitra Bhattacharya, Managing Director, Bosch Limited, and President, Bosch Group, India, told reporters. “We have the capability to develop greenfield technology that can power industries in a new-age manner,” he said. Bosch, which is known as an automotive components maker, has its business spread across four business sectors - mobility solutions (engines and other manufacturing service), consumer goods (including household appliances and power tools), industrial technology (including drive and control) and energy and building technology. Bosch said it is gaining increased relevance by implementing robotics and automation solutions that are used in smart manufacturing and connected industry solutions.
